Enviar artigo via e-mail O PAPEL DA ANTÁRCTICA NA ESTRATÉGIA DE DESENVOLVIMENTO DA CHINA NA ERA XI JINPING
Resumo
A Antártica, além de ser o quarto maior continente do mundo em extensão territorial, detém um solo rico em recursos naturais, inclusive petróleo. O avanço de pesquisas nesta região é uma forma de buscar instrumentos que barateiem uma possível exploração. O continente passou a ser uma rota estratégica de política externa da China com o objetivo de tornar o país, nas palavras de Xi Jinping, um Polar Great Power. O objetivo principal é descrever a Antártica enquanto lócus de interesses econômicos diretos pela China em direção a ocupar liderança no que se convencionou denominar Indústria 4.0. Dentre as principais conclusões, tem-se que a Antártica cumpre um duplo papel na estratégia da China: de permitir aprofundar pesquisas que servirão de sumo para o progresso tecnológico, bem como de presença em um continente que detém recursos naturais, ou seja, um papel geopolítico de fortalecer a posição da China, ainda que isso represente intensificar contendas com países vizinhos, como a Austrália.
